The Main Culprit In The Battle Against Depression

Clearly, Eve was confused. ( You can catch up on her confusion in the third article of this series). After all, she was dealing with a master of deception who warps reality by attacking our receptors, which filter all incoming information. This information is then checked against our perceptions or the database of information we already have and trust in, our belief system; and we start to question the data. This is an attack against our faith and this attack comes via the lust of the eyes, and will result in a paradigm shift and a change in our perspective.

Once we start to question the data we already had, that destroys the trust we had in that data. Then Satan moves in with the deception; a lie, falsehood, or half truth to cement the doubt he is building. He submits the lie to our receptors, and we start processing it against the perceptions and belief we already have.

Bear in mind that our view of the entire situation and scenario is coming not from the aerial view, but from the ground view. Things look a lot different based on that. On the ground, you can’t see everything around you that is happening and affecting what you see in front of you. However, from the sky, you have a much more expanded viewpoint, and therefore have a fuller picture and understanding of what is happening.

It’s like playing a virtual reality game. The player can get an aerial view, but the character cannot. What guides the character through the maze of danger in this virtual reality? The player, who has the aerial viewpoint and perspective.

Also, note how information and materials get delivered faster by air, verses by ground? Why? Because by ground we have a rougher terrain to get through and deal with. There’s all this stuff, foliage, and hindrances in the way, the road, and our paths. When we literally “ship” or transport or transmit by air or “airwaves,” things actually get delivered on time, and sometimes faster. Ground shipping takes much longer. Having an aerial viewpoint and perspective is really the best way available to getting any job, ideal or purpose done.

The ground view is hampered by fog. That fog is the limits of what our eyes can see directly in our immediate circumference. This is why it is necessary to walk by faith and not by sight. This is why we need to rely on God. After all, who has a better aerial view than him?

Knowing this, Satan uses the fog of that visual limitation against us. He tells Eve a half truth, and then, uses one of his greatest weapons against her; the ideology of deprivation. He uses the idea that she was lacking something that was desirable.

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Meanwhile, just like many of us, she didn't recognize that she already had everything she would ever need. It had already been given in the 3 gifts of God. What Satan did was he activated greed in her. He activated a spirit of entitlement in her, and destroyed the spirit of thankfulness and love.

If you have ever visited remote places in the world, you would know that the people there have no issues with depression. They don’t have mental breakdowns. They don’t “fall apart.” Why? Because there is no sense of deprivation.

They could live in the poorest part of the world, and have little to nothing except a few scraps on their backs for clothing, and a shack made of garbage or twigs. They could still be using crude tools to hunt with that our children study about in the history of ancient civilizations.

They could be eating grubs and bugs, and roots from dried out plants. But do they get depressed about their situation? Not at all. Why? Because until they are exposed to western cultures and civilization, they have no concept of deprivation. The way they live is just how life is; and only the strong survive. They aren’t comparing themselves to some impossible standard, because they don’t know of things outside their world. They have their basic needs met, and wants are not an issue for them.

We don’t have a desire for more; we don’t feel a sense of want, or crave with greed and envy something we don’t have until we feel deprived, and the reason people feel deprived is based upon their self identity and a lack of emotional security. This is where Satan pulls out the lust of the flesh as a weapon against us.

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

When people don’t recognize that God created us to be self-sustaining organisms in relationship with Him, then they pull away, attempting only the first half of that equation; to be self-sustaining. A caterpillar gives the perfect visual demonstration of this. It toils and struggles slowly towards that high place it needs to get to in order to make its cocoon.

It may take days or even weeks to get to that place, but despite slow going, it continues on because it knows by faith (intuition); it is convinced that the “butterfly life” is just on the other side of all of that effort and possible frustration. It finally gets to the high place and begins to weave its cocoon. Once inside, it is in a self-sustaining covering. That is what God is to us…He is our covering, and we rest within Him while He is changing us from the inside out.

What if, while inside the cocoon, the caterpillar got impatient, or became upset because his view was obscured by the covering of the cocoon. What if the caterpillar had a sense of entitlement, and just took it for granted that his metamorphosis should be occurring on his timetable, and not in the natural order set up by God?

Or what if the caterpillar didn't want to ever come out of the cocoon, because he didn’t want to face the struggle required to break free? How would he ever get his wings and fly? His struggle to break free of the cocoon is what strengthens his wings and subsequently enables him to fly. But if he is opposed to the struggle because he doesn't want to be uncomfortable or feel “put out,” then he will never achieve his true grandeur as a beautiful butterfly. The point is…his disposition is based on his outlook and perceptions and these dictate his actions or lack thereof.

The hierarchy diagram I gave earlier shows the link that is missing when we attempting to be self-sustaining without God as our covering.

Here we see a 3 squared equation or 3(3). We could look at this as XYZ or ABC, but either way, if you take away the Y or the B, the sets as we see them, are incomplete. A minus B plus C does not equal ABC.

A-B+C does not = ABC

What you end up with is A & C; two separate and distinct entities that have no connection to each other. In other words, there’s a gap; a great divide. God wants the relationship with man, and man needs the relationship with God, because without it, man cannot relate to himself.

The sum of (Father)Spirit(Son)=1.
The sum of (Spirit)Soul(Body)=1.
The sum of (Man)Woman(Seed/Offspring)=1.

And the sum of 1+1+1=3 and 3 is a reflection of God. When you align yourself in three-ness, you are whole and complete. You feel no sense of deprivation, because God has already given you everything you need to face any situation, or to accomplish any goal. (Next part)
