Change

Change is not easy. And nothing just happens. In order to change your life; if you want to draw positive things into your life, you have to first change your thinking. In the bible, the word “repent” is used. It simply means to change your mind. It sounds like something much harder, I know, but its really that simple. Change your mind.

How does one change their mind? After all, your perspective is a condition of your exposure. Exposure is the result of environment and level of access. Just as Jesus is the ultimate doorway into direct access to God and into a whole new life; there are many sub-access points that He’s provided; which you can take advantage of to bring you closer to the changes you seek.

What You Have To Do

Therefore, it is within your power to draw into your life, that which you seek. What you have to do is discover how you can open the doors of access. You have to change your mind from “relaxation” mode, into “action” mode.

You have to actively be seeking new information on the topic or subject of your interest. Scripture says “Seek and you shall find.” This does not mean you tried one time. This means you are continually searching; constantly seeking.

It’s a position of ongoing, deliberate action. Look for events or meetings, groups or clubs that have the same interest. Make use of your local libraries, book stores and any outlet of free available information. You can get education on every topic you could ever imagine.

Expanding Your Horizons

In order to expand your horizons, you must change the current information in your personal database. This cannot be accomplished  by watching T.V. You need solid information, that’s not part of the “reality” that is depicted on T.V.

In order to be a success in whatever you choose, you must seek information from those who have succeeded in that same arena. Associating with the same people that have gotten you nowhere in life, or who would be happy to have you stay where you are, is not a wise decision.

Seek those who have attained; not just financially, but intellectually. Seek wisdom. In my book, the first and best place to find wisdom is the bible. If you can get understanding of that, and connect with God, everything else is a cakewalk. Ultimately, no matter what you are shooting for, no matter what you are trying to accomplish, don’t quit. Learn to fall forward.

Revisions

Let me use myself as an example. I have an ebook published with Smashwords.com. They had contacted me 2 years ago to revise the book, so that the format would be adjusted to fit into their premium catalog.

Getting into this catalog would give my book world wide exposure. I was definitely interested in this opportunity, and I did try, at that time, to fix the problems their system had with my book’s formatting, to no avail.

However, my mindset at that time was just not in the right place. I was struggling with issues with my son, who was yet to be evaluated and diagnosed.

I was also working for the Census Bureau, and the office I was in was the worst in the district. So needless to say, I was under considerable stress. I was in no way prepared for the number of repeat revisions I had to do to get the ebook ready for the premium catalog.

I tried for three frustrating months to get that book revised for their crunching machine they call the auto vetter, but nothing I did worked. I just was not in the mindset to handle that much failure and rejection, so I stopped trying.

Now, two years later, they sent me another email about the premium catalog; a reminder. By this time, my mindset had changed. I have definite goals in mind, and getting that book into that worldwide distribution channel was one of them.

I’ve been working on it for five months, but this time my attitude was different. I was determined that no matter what, I would finish the revisions and get the book into the premium catalog, no matter how many revisions I had to do.

Was it sometimes frustrating? Yes, it definitely got there a few times, especially when it seemed like they were giving me the exact same revisions I had just fixed all over again. Yet, I persisted because I was determined, and because I was determined, I prevailed.

The book was approved for their premium catalog this past week, but it would never have happened if my mindset had not been changed. Just because it got a bit difficult or uncomfortable, was no reason to give up; not if you are serious about reaching your goals.

Winning At The Game

My son and I have been playing the demo of the Pharoah game, that we downloaded 2.5 years ago. The main goal of this game is to build the city, and particularly, to get the monument completed before the 180 months you have to complete this task runs out.

Lately, I’ve been more focused on this game; not that I regularly play games on the pc, but I just got determined to get that monument built before the time ran out.

So I played relentlessly whenever I had gotten my work goals done for the day. My son started telling me that I was addicted to the game, but it was not the game that held my attention. It was the idea of beating the game by getting the monument completed.

Never Say Never

I decided that if I could beat this demo program, I could win at whatever I tried. My son kept telling me that it was impossible to beat the game because it was a demo. He said he had googled this game, and that ask.com indicated that no one has ever finished the monument in either the demo, or the full game.

I just kept telling him that I was going to beat it, and get that monument done. With each failure, I learned something new; and each time, I gotten information that helped me get a little closer.

I had reached 6 levels on the monument, but I kept pushing week after week. I finally reached the 8th level. My son kept shaking his head at me, disgusted with how much time I was taking from his computer time, by playing the game.

He began to tell me each time I played, “You’ll never beat this game.” I told him, “Never say never. I am going to beat this game.” I kept revising my strategy, trying to find a better way to get a little bit closer to my goal, and the goal of the game.

Success

This past weekend, I succeeded. I didn’t even know I had beat the game at first. I was just bragging to my son that I had reached 11 levels on the monument, but I hadn’t noticed that the little builders had left the monument, because it was done. I actually beat the demo twice before I realized that I had done what my son claimed was unheard of and impossible.

Sure, I ran out of money, but I still had 40 months left when it was done. (I took the picture when the game was at the remaining 36 months.) Actually, I wasn’t trying to set any records. I could care less about that stuff.

My goal was to prove to myself that I could do it. If I could do this, I reasoned, that would mean that I could accomplish whatever I set my mind to do. I succeeded in proving this to myself, because I refused to give up.

True. It's funny. I write whatever God shows me, and I love the fact that others get blessed, but every once in a while, something I write, like this, helps me out too, in those times when life can cause you to forget. Peace.
