Do you know any really tasty juicing recipes?
I want to start juicing for health. I have a 16 year old who is stuck on junk food and sugar, and I'd like to wean him off of it. If I can make some great tasting health juices, I might be able to influence him in a healthier direction. Can you suggest some great veggie fruit combos that would make great juices that a picky teenager might like?
I really recommend the Big Book of Juices (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8521 … -of-juices)
Its got all sorts of blends, fruit based and veggie based, and its organized very well. My favorite fruit/veggie combo (so far) is probably apples, orange, a bit of celery and some carrots. I do also like experimenting with more tropical fruit- stuff like oranges, pineapples, mangoes, etc. always taste good together. You can also visit jointhereboot.com for some more info on juicing, and they have some pretty good recipes as well. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info on that book. I've bookmarked it for purchase later.
You want to change the eating habit of 16 year old, thats good idea. Not only juice is healthy, there are many other healthy foods too.
How to make healthy Juice?
You can put tomatoes
Carrots
Celery
and oranges.
This is really good fresh and home made juice. Try it.
I have a website called JuicingJuice. Its link is http://www.juicingjuice.com if you would like to check it out.
Anyway, I have been juicing with my kids for over a year now and playing around with lots of different recipes. Most often, I just throw together whatever I have in my fridge.
What I have just recently discovered is that to make the juices a million times more palatable than they have been, I do two things to every juice I make now.
No matter what, I add about 1/2 an inch, to 1 inch of lemon. This includes the peel since it has most of the flavor (this is the only citrus fruit that you can eat the peel and have it taste good) Adding the lemon changes the whole flavor of the juice and makes it almost taste like lemonade, no matter whatever else you throw into it.
The other thing I do is shake it in a shaker of ice before drinking. If its cold, it is sooo much better. When I first started juicing I'd drink it right out of the juicer. You wouldn't believe how many times I almost gave up halfway through finishing it. Now I LOVE to drink them. In fact, I usually put the juice in a fancy glass and sip it to make it last, its that good!
One other thing I meant to mention, I always add one apple to any combination that doesn't have another source of sweetness. Vegetables are surprisingly sweet when juiced, so only one apple is needed. That along with the lemon and it really is delicious!
My latest favorite juice I have on my facebook fanpage (JuicingJuice) and my original Juice Juicing. I regularly post new recipes on there as I come up with them. I also have lots of recipes on the website (but I'm still adding to that and many of them do not mention the lemon or the ice because I wrote them before discovering that, heehee)
1 wedge of cabbage
3 carrots (large ones)
large handful of spinach
2 or 3 stalks of celery
1 apple
1 inch of lemon (organic, non-waxed)
Really though anything you have on hand will work. Its all about trial and error, though most of them will be pretty good no matter what you throw in.
Good luck I hope your son finds juicing fun and will give it a try. I'd love to hear how it goes.

Sounds great. I think I'm gonna try that. Thanks.
Excellent question. You don't need a fancy juicer, by the way, just a blender and a nut mylk bag www.juicerless.com If he is moving into the realm of "big boy" junk foods maybe he likes 'hot' salsa? Here is a recipe for a vibrant, tasty juice that supplies lots of the nutritional requirements he is missing by imbibing processed foods, but that will also 'put hair on his chest' so to speak (macho macho).*
*1 clove *garlic
*1 teeny tiny tip of jalapeno (seeded-- and no more than a pinky tip chip or it will take over the whole juice)
*1/2 bunch of Cilantro (or Parsley if he hates Cilantro)
*1/4 medium Onion
*2 large Mango
*1 Papaya
*1 bunch Spinach
*4 Celery Stalks

Thanks for the idea, but neither of us are big into peppers.

How can you get children to drink more water? My 7 year old only drinks when she's thirsty, and that is hardly at all. It's starting to cause health problems. She doesn't like any other drinks, including fruit juices, so I can't give her those instead. When I tell her that she...

We have heard about the miracle where Jesus turned water to wine. People seem not to understand the type of wine that was made. Some said it was alcohol while some claim it was non-alcohol like fruit wine. I think a knowledge of the wine invoke at that time can give us an idea. Those that oppose...
